The technical definition of virginity is whether or not a penis has been inserted into your vagina. But I find that definition misleading, the whole notion of virginity, actually. I knew girls in high school who did everything but have vaginal intercourse and I most certainly did not consider them to be virgins. The idea of virginity stems from a time when women were property and their virginity guaranteed to their future husband that the children she bore were his. But medically speaking there isn't really such a thing. Not all women have hymens, and not all of those who do break their hymens the same way. Of those who have hymens there are actually many different ways the hymens itself can form which helps determine the way it breaks as well.
