Hi Meg24,
Anytime you forget to take your pills, you increase your risk of getting pregnant. However, if you are remembering to double up in the next day, you should be OK. It is not uncommon for a woman to get cramping mid-cycle, or two weeks before your period as you describe. It also is common to get cramping if you forget to take your pills.
If you forget to take your pills often, you may want to carry them in your handbag, so you can take them when you remember. Or start associating them with something you do every day, like brushing your teeth, or going to bed. If you still have trouble remembering, talk with your doctor to see if perhaps there may be a better alternative for you other than the birth control pill.
Good luck.
