As a woman who is bald and prone to looking at fashion magazines (full of women with only lush, long locs of hair), I have to work hard 12 months/year to feel good about my body. Summer is harder though because what does a bald woman wear on the beach or in the pool? A bald head covered in white sunscreen isn't my first pick, nor are wigs, nor giant sun hats that don't stay on a bald head.
I appreciate your blog. It really is about finding our own beauty, more than changing ourselves to match someone else. I could suffer under hot, tight, miserable wigs the rest of my life, but choose instead to be fashionably bald. As for the pool, I just had to design my own swim cap for those of us who lose our hair but are determined to hang on to our sense of style.
