Have you talked with your doctor about your weight, and desire for a pregnancy? Weight is not the only factor in measuring for a healthy pregnancy, and if you are in the obese range, I would want to know if you have any risks for heart conditions during pregnancy. You can speak with your doctor about your personal risk factors, possibly have lab work done to understand what your overall picture of health (cholesterol levels, overall blood count, etc).

Of course the healthiest measure is to lose weight, and if you are in the obese range, you need to talk with your doctor about the healthiest way to lose weight if it is recommended before pregnancy (possible referral to a Registered Dietitian, R.D., and a Personal Trainer who can monitor your activities). There are women who become pregnant on the entire range of weight (unhealthy in both underweight and overweight), and it is most important for you to talk with your doctor about your specific and individual circumstances.
