Besides the aesthetic appeal of nails, nails are a good barometer of our health. Although it could be caused by the diabetes, spooning and splitting of the nails can be caused by a vitamin deficiency and/or nail trauma. But, because I can't physically see your nails and because they are very important health indicators, I would recommend you seeing a dermatologist or your doctor to take a look at your nails and determine the actual cause with any tests they may need.
