The bleeding you experienced soon after taking Plan B could have either been your menstrual period, breakthrough bleeding, withdrawal bleeding...or a combination (meaning: one was an actual menstrual period, the other was withdrawal bleeding).

Emergency contraception can cause some irregularity in your bleeding pattern (I discuss what this means in-depth: Emergency Contraception Update, 2011). Withdrawal bleeding is bleeding caused by your body "withdrawing" from the hormones in the prescription. Nothing harmful, just your body trying to regulate itself.

Your next menstrual period may be slightly irregular, but if you are unsure when to actually estimate when it should be expected, use the time you last experienced bleeding, and count between 21-35 days from that date.

hope that helps!
