Hi Anonymous,
Thank you for your question and welcome to EmpowHer. Is this the first time you are experimenting with sex? How old are you?

The most important thing to remember when having sex is protection, pretection, protection. First and foremost: ALWAYS USE CONDOMS. Not only does this prevent against the spread of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) but this also helps prevent pregnancy.

Secondly, you should talk to a physician about possible birth control options such as the Pill. Condoms should always be worn but remember that nothing carrys a 100% guarentee so a second backup method is always good.

You asked what you can do after sex....if you are not protected in the above mentioned ways, you can always use the morning after pill to protect yourself against pregnancy such as Next Choice or Plan B. This pill usually causes some period abnormalites afterwards and should be used as prescribed on the box.

I hope this helps answer your question. If you have further questions, please feel free to ask.

Missie
