I found something that helped take care of this! I have had the same symptoms most of you mentioned for a week now and was happy to find this thread. I felt like I had too much salt (I rarely salt food) or that I burned my tongue and inside my lips because they were so sore and raw feeling. I thought maybe the mint and cinnamon gum I purchase changed their ingredients and caused this issue. I could see dark patches inside my lips that looked raw and the tastebuds of first inch of my tongue were more pronounced.

I am not one to run to a doctor usually. I will try using salt, baking soda, heat, or oregano oil for most ailments first. For this issue it was the oregano oil that did the trick. This stuff is excellent for bacteria and viral issues and it knocked what this lip/tongue in the butt as well. I will never say to put oregano oil directly on a sensitive area like inside your mouth but I was willing to try since I was so raw anyway. I opened a gel cap and rubbed the oil inside my lips and on my tongue and then rinsed with water after 20 seconds. The oil was still doing it’s magic but it was more bearable to rinse. After the second time doing this yesterday I felt tons better. Today I did it twice and I think the issue is totally gone.
