PID that becomes chronic may be because the infection has never really left the body. Go back to your physician or possibly get a second opinion. You are correct, that PID is usually associated with women who have just had a baby, had an abortion or a new sex partner. It is also associated with individuals who have STDs.
Since you do not seem to fall into these categories, you need to follow up with your physician immediately.
