I think it is normal, that is exactly what happen to me when I was 45. My doctor suggested a (estrogen or progesterone pill) for me to take for 7 days. I had a three month supply. After the first dose I never had a period again. My doctor said it generally doesn't work that way. The main idea of the pill was to help regulate my periods and if that didn't work she was thinking about doing a D&C. I am 50 and my periods stopped almost 4 1/2 years ago. I did go through a year of bad hot flashes. I hated that part never knowing when I was going to start and then having my period last for 14 days only for it to start back up again 3 or 4 days later.
