A CBC, also known as a complete blood count, is a very general blood test to determine if you have any infections, anemia, etc. It's pretty much the baseline test to determine your overall health.
To test your thyroid levels, TSH levels are often tested along with a T4 test. T3 and Thyroid antibody tests may also be done.
The problem with these tests is that they sometimes get seen as a range instead of a specific number. If doctor's see that you're within the rather large range, then they will simply tell you that your within normal levels. ALWAYS ask for your specific number because if your TSH level is at 5, then it is normal but 5.1 isn't-- meaning that you will still have symptoms of Hypothyroidism but be considered within the normal range. I can't tell you how many people wonder why they still have symptoms if they are still within normal range and it's because they don't know their numbers.
