Spinal surgeries can often be very difficult to perform due to risks of paralysis-- after all, it is your spine that is being worked on. However, every single case is different. My mother for example, although she has several herniated discs was advised that at her age (she was over 50 already) and the location of the discs, to not undergo surgery.
