Thank you for your question and welcome to Empowher. I am not sure why a hysterectomy was requested by your physician but I would certainly get a second opinion.
Your periods may be irregular but that is not that uncommon our bodies are constantly changing and your hormones can be changing. It is not completely correct that women are "too young" for menopause at age 42 as I know of women who were in their 30s.
We cannot diagnose you on here although I would certainly suggest a second opinion before a D and C and hysterectomy.
