Trust me, not ALL Tourette's is caused by abuse. Like autism, people can simply be born with it. A lot of children are diagnosed with "tic disorders" (not necessarily full blown Tourette's), and eventually grow out of it. I do believe however that blows to the head may cause changes or disturbances in neurological pathways, causing tics. I've done a ton of research because my boyfriend has it (he is 33).
