A threatened miscarriage can occur within the first 20 weeks and it basically puts you at higher risk for losing the baby-- though this isn't always the case since I also bled in the beginning of my second pregnancy and had a very healthy baby.
Since it is a saturday, you may want to consider going to the Emergency Department if you're concerned about the clot. If you are not bleeding heavily and you'd like to wait until Monday for your ultrasound then that's fine. But if for whatever reason you begin to bleed heavily, please call your doctor and let him know that you're on your way to the Emergency Dept (calling is optional, the hospital will call him anyway)
