Hi vijaya G,

Thank you for posting on behalf of your mother-- that's very thoughtful of you. Unfortunately, after a hysterectomy, women can sometimes go through what is known as surgical menopause. This can include psychological issues such as depression (anxiety, stress, and sleeplessness can all factor in together) and it can also cause hot flashes, vaginal dryness, etc.

Sometimes hormone replacement therapy can help alleviate some of the symptoms-- your mom may not have necessarily have to have been treated with an anti-depressant but maybe some type of estrogen replacement instead to help balance out the hormones. If this is something she is willing to consider then please have her address it with her doctor.

Wishing you and your family the best,

Rosa
