If a smaller branch artery is blocked, a smaller amount of heart muscle is affected. After an MI, if part of the heart muscle has died, it is replaced by scar tissue over the next few weeks. Many type of treatments and new studies are being made in order to treat MI. It's important to discuss with your physician or specialist on which treatment would be best for you.
