If you had contact, you will see symptoms within 2 to 30 days. The symptoms will be flu like symptoms, open sores, and severe pain. They last about two to four weeks. You should follow up with your doctor if you show any signs.
Condoms often help with herpes outbreak although they can show up in areas outside of the vagina and if so, condoms may not be successful as like I said skin to skin contact will cause the infection to be passed on to the partner. I hope this information helps and good luck.
