Hi Anonymous,

Thank you for your question and welcome to Empowher. The emergency contraceptive only works prior to pregnancy as it stops your eggs from being fertilized. The information about the pill says that the pill should be taken within 72 hours of the sexual act to stop this effect.

Once a baby is conceived in the womb, you are at a different stage. At this point, you will need to seek medical assistance for other options. Studies indicate that women who try and use the pill for abortion purposes run a risk of ectopic pregnancies. Ectopic pregnancies can be life threatening so please seek medical assistance.

I hope this information helps. Good luck and keep us posted. There are many other options that you have and seeking your physicians assistance will be beneficial.
