Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Fast foods are highly processed, full of fat, calories and sodium. You can easily take in 1,500 calories from just one meal alone. The recommendation is 1,500-1,800. It also depends on health, weight and age. These type of foods can cause an increased in weight that can lead to heart disease. If you do want to give yourself and your family the choice of eating out after a long day. Which is understandable. Try leaving off the sauces, substitute the fries for a salad or yogurt, skip the soda instead have water or light lemonade, try a grill chicken vs a fried chicken sandwich and last limit your portions.  I hope this helps?

Here's a link to our site on healthy eating.

Best,

Daisy
