When it comes to being safe, here are some guidelines. Kissing on the mouth does not cause sexually transmitted diseases (STIs) Oral sex is a very direct way to get one. In fact, if one partner has HPV virus, it can even cause throat cancer. Infections like gonorrhea and other STDs can also be transmitted sexually.
