Hello Kelly McCarthy!

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community!

My hubby cracks his knuckles all the time-I never really asked him why he does it, but it seems to be a common habit!

Is it bad to crack your knuckles? Experts suggest that there is no correlation with cracking knuckles and arthritis-that's the good news. On the other hand, experts have found evidence that injury can occur to the ligaments surrounding the joints.

Some people have stated that the sound can be bothersome, such as sharing office space with someone who 'cracks' their knuckles in close proximity. Medically speaking, it doesn't appear to be 'bad' to crack your knuckles, but socially-you might want to rethink it. It sounds like a new habit for you...maybe try to replace the habit with something else. Maybe try your hat at knitting or something else to keep your hands occupied. Just a thought? :-)

Hope this helps Kelly! Let me know if you have any luck breaking the habit.
