Hello Michele,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community! Back to back periods can be so frustrating and very confusing. There's been a lot of unpredictable bleeding for you since Sept. 8th and so I am sure you are bewildered!

Have you done anything out of the ordinary? A change in birth control, medication, stress levels? Taking Aspirin during your menstrual cycle can also affect your cycle. Can you give me a bit more information about any changes in your life so I can help you better?

"Almost anything can cause irregular periods," says Dr. Merrill-Nach, "including stress, illness, or using hormonal methods of birth control (eg, the Pill ). Hormone levels, thyroid levels, implantation bleeding can all be the culprit. It's just hard to say without getting an expert opinion and exam from your Gynecologist.

Your doctor can also check your hormones to see what's going on.

Is it possible you could be experiencing perimenopausal symptoms? I attached an article about this for you. The transition can affect women in their 30's, as you said you are 37, I thought I'd mention it.

Michele, will you call your doctor and seek medical attention?

Best,

Kristin
