Hi Melissa - It's perfectly normal to be scared of most medical procedures. It's important to let your doctors, and anesthesiologist if one is involved, know that you are scared and would appreciate their help in making you as comfortable as possible during the procedures.

In terms of which type of biopsy to have, my concern would be which one is going to give the best information needed to diagnos and treat your concern. It does no good to have the "easier" one if that one isn't the one that's going to help you the most. So, personally, that's where I would put my focus.

I don't know why you get that pounding feeling, or why eating carbs seems to help. I do know that hyperthyroidism OR the release of too much thyroid hormone can cause your heart rate and metabolism to speed up, making a person's heart pound and causing them to feel jittery and unable to relax. So definitely mention what you're experiencing to your endocrinologist, as you may need a medication adjustment or other adjustments to feel closer to "normal" again.

Take care, and I hope your procedure goes well.
