It is difficult to know whether you are having a late start to your period or not. Blood released during the process of implantation is often faded and lighter in color than the blood during a menstrual period. Another indication of implantation discharge is that no clots are passed. In implantation bleeding only a small amount of blood is released, lasting anywhere between one to three days. It rarely goes beyond five days.
You know your own body better than anyone else, and given that you're experiencing the same symptoms you had for your first pregnancy you may want to take a pregnancy test to better determine if you are pregnant or just late.
You don't mention your age, but as we get older the fluctuations in our hormones can sometimes lead to irregular and odd periods, which could also be what's going on.
Will you let us know what you learn? We are curious too.
