Hello Anon,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community!

Anytime you have unprotected sex, your risk of pregnancy is much higher. However, light spotting can be caused by a variety of things. Sometimes it can be common for many women at the beginning or end of periods. The only way to really know if you are pregnant is to take a pregnancy test. That will give you the most accurate answer. Brown spotting can be a sign of pregnancy early on. But like I said, the only way to truly know is to take a pregnancy test.

Light brown spotting can also be caused stress, endometriosis, emotional disturbances and hormonal imbalance.

If you are worried about pregnancy and continue having sex, I recommend using protection or getting on some form of birth control.

I hope this has helped! Please let me know if you have further questions.

Best,
Erin
