Guide

Hi Anonymous and thanks for bringing your concerns to EmpowHER.

It can be very frustrating to have to wait to catch up with others. Some girls start their periods at age 8, while others may start as late as 13 or 14. It's pretty much impossible to know when yours will start, but we can tell you that a good sign you're getting close to the time when your first period comes is having the vaginal discharge you mentioned. This may be thin and slightly sticky -  or thick and gooey - and the color may range form clear to white to off while. Usually this discharge starts about six months before you get your first period.

So hang in there, and before you know it, you too will be dealing with the same questions and concerns that come with having a period.

Hope that helps,

Pam
