Hi Ali,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community! I too am amazed at how our bones can heal after such a painful injury!

The bones in our bodies are very strong and they take on different characteristics as we age. As infants, our bones are more pliable and as we age they get stronger and then in our golden years, they can become fragile and brittle.

To describe the healing process in it's most simple form, KidsHealth.org explains, "At the location of the fracture, your bones will produce lots of new cells and tiny blood vessels that rebuild the bone. These cells cover both ends of the broken part of the bone and close up the break until it's as good as new."

If you suspect that you might have a broken bone, you'll want to have an X-ray and the sooner the better so if there is a fracture, a doctor can set it properly before it mends back together.

Did this answer your question Ali?

Best,

Kristin
