Hi Melissa666,

Thank you for visiting the EmpowHER community again and sharing your question!

The palpitations you are experiencing could be any number of things. The palpitations can be a symptom of thyroid disease, anemia or even anxiety. I am glad that you have an appointment with your Endocrinologist to have it checked out!

Because the thyroid gland and hormonal system are delicate, management of thyroid disease and follows-ups with a physician are critical. Successful management of hypothyroidism requires very specific and individualized dosing, and even small changes in dosing can significantly affect TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) levels.

Palpitations should not be ignored in case they are due to a bigger process such as thyroid or anemia problems or heart valve changes. Be sure to tell him or her about your palpitations at your next visit. Your doctor will listen to your heart and may recommend an ECG to monitor your heart rate. Sometimes you might wear a holter monitor for 24-hours. This nifty little device keeps track of your palpitations all day long. Using a monitor can help diagnose the reason.

Melissa666, did this help in the meantime?

Best,

Kristin
