To ease your mind, what you are experiencing is very common after taking emergency contraception and no reason for alarm.
The ECP is a high dosage of hormones like those found in birth control pills. Basically, the way the ECP works is by preventing the sperm from joining the egg or delaying the egg from leaving the ovary.
There may be some side effects from the ECP and irregular periods is the most common complaint. Some women find that it takes 2-3 cycles for the menstrual cycle to become normal again.
If you are worried that it didn't work, you can take a home pregnancy test to ease your worry. But in the meantime, you could experience light bleeding, early and or late periods until the hormones get out of your system.
If you have any further worries or concerns, you can talk with the pharmacist or call your doctor.
