Hello, and thank you for sharing your question with the community.  I'd love to give you some helpful information on the subject.

The first sad truth you should be aware of, is that severe abdominal pain is common for women with light periods.  Other reasons for light periods are, hormonal imbalances, eating disorders, excessive exercise, menopause, girls just starting their period, or thyroid decease.

As you probably already know, low nutrition can make menstrual cramps worse.  Here is a list of foods that can help: ginger, papaya, walnuts, almonds, broccoli, and brown rice.

Also staying hydrated is very important.  Drinking warm or hot water draws blood to the skin and helps reveal bloating and pain. You can also eat high water-based foods such as watermelon, celery, lettuce and cucumbers.

Keep in mind that these food are only meant to boost your bodies ability to support a menstrual period and therefore relieve the pain.  The foods are not guaranteed to completely eliminate menstrual cramps.  With that being said, you will need to take Advil and ibuprofen as well.
