The color of the blood does not signify anything usual. Blood is the same throughout the body. If you have ever had a cut that bled, you saw how the blood changed color between to fresh blood, and the old blood. It is the same with menstrual blood.
Secondly, do not take EC when taking birth control pills. The birth control pill is enough to prevent pregnancy. Taking both at the same time can dramatically disturb the hormones in your body. Your irregular period is most likely due to taking the EC.
These irregular periods are no cause for alarm as long as you do not have any other severely negative symptoms in relation to them.
