During adolescent years it is normal to have irregular periods because your body is still trying to reach a hormonal balance.  It is no cause for alarm unless you are heavily bleeding for longer then 7 days straight.

If you do wish to have a regular cycle however doctors usually recommend taking an oral contraceptive.   These pills will give your body the necessary hormones to have a regular period free from negative symptoms.
