Guide

Hello and thank you for sharing your question.

Follicle cysts are the most common kind of ovarian cysts.  During the menstrual cycle, the egg grows inside a sac called a follicle located inside the ovaries.  The follicle then breaks open and releases and egg.  When the follicle doesn't break open the fluid remains inside the sac and the pouch becomes a cyst in the ovaries.

A dominant follicle refers to the sac which will ovulate.  None of the cysts you have will ovulate.

There are generally three treatment options.  First is hormonal treatment such as taking birth control pills.  The next is a surgical procedure called Laparoscopy so smaller cysts and lastly a surgical procedure called Laparotomy for large cysts.

The treatment really depends on the amount of cysts you have and whether or not they are cancerous.  You will need to discuss the best treatment with your doctor.
