An irregular period is usually no cause for alarm and can be due to stress just as you mentioned. Which in your case, is very likely the cause. Or it can be hormonal imbalances. You did not mention your age, but I would like to mention that during adolescent years irregular period are very common because your body is changing rapidly and trying to reach a hormonal balance.
