First of all, here is some quick info about female reproduction. When the female releases an egg it is called ovulation. If the egg is not fertilized within 5 or 6 days of ovulation it is eliminated during your menstrual period. Ovulation happens about 12 to 15 days before your period.
In other words, you were not ovulating during the time you had sex, so the egg could not be fertilized.
Another factor is that your boyfriend did not ejaculate. So there was no sperm to fertilize the egg anyway.
With that being said, taking a pregnancy test is not necessary. But if it will really help ease your mind you need to wait a week after a missed period. It will not be accurate until then. Obviously if you have your next period, you are not pregnant, so there won't be a need to take the test.
