First of all, lets look at the practical reasons. Extra weight on the body will inevitably take a toll on your skeletal structure. So, first off, getting back to the ideal body weight for your height is essential.
Also, a poor diet is the #1 cause of bowel and reflux issues. A poor diet also increases acid build up in the body leading to inflammation of the joints. This is most likely cause of your pain. In order to loose the weight, reduce inflammation and cure the bowel/reflux issues, you must change your diet.
Start simple by eliminating diary, caffeine and foods with refined sugar such as candy, cake, and fruit juice. Avoid processed foods that are frozen, canned, and pack with preservatives. Do most of your grocery shopping on the produce section and try to eat organic to avoid toxins.
Since you do not want to take the medication, I can suggest a natural inflammatory spice called Turmeric. You can cook with it. It is delicious spice for meat, and/or vegetables. But the best thing to do to get a good amount in your diet, is mix about a teaspoon in water and take it as shot once a day. It will dramatically reduce inflammation in your joints and your intestines (which is causing to bowel trouble). Buy it at any grocery store, but try to buy organic!
