Guide

Hello and welcome to EmpowHer,
It is common to have irregular periods during adolescent years. However, when you have prolonged bleeding it can indicate something more serious than hormonal imbalances. It can also cause anemia.
Most doctors recommend using birth control pills during teenage years to regulate the period. But you may also want to get a pap smear to make sure nothing else is going on before getting treated with the pill.
