White discharge, at the beginning or the end of your menstrual cycle is normal. However, if the discharge is itching, or has other symptoms like a foul odor and is thick in nature, it could indicate there is an infection.
The white discharge will not cause you to become pregnant, but if you have other symptoms along with it, classifying it as an infection, you do not want to ignore it.
