Taking folic acid during pregnancy can reduce the risk of birth defects. However, it does not have any effect on fertility and the general ability to get pregnant.
I highly suggest you start tracking your ovulation days. Ovulation occurs 12-16 days after your period. If the egg is not fertilized during that 5 day span you will not become pregnant.
If you have already tried that, I suggest you see a gynecologist that specializes in fertility.
