Since your period came so close to when you were expected to have sex, I would still take a pregnancy test in 2 weeks or so. That is if you had unprotected sex.

The menstrual cycle lasts for 28 days. If you count forward from the first day of your last menstrual cycle, then count forward 12 - 16 days. Within those 12 - 16 days is the ovulation period, which is the most fertile time for a woman. Since all cycles differ, women can ovulate anywhere from day 11 to day 21, according to the American Pregnancy Association. The day your period is due then would not be considered your time of ovulation since that is day 1.

If you are concerned about getting pregnant, try downloading free apps to track your ovulation and have a better understanding of when you are most fertile.

Clue is one example that is also free and makes it easy to track your menstrual cycle.
