Dear Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHer! I'm sorry you are going through this.

Paget's disease is a rare disease. It is found in 1 to 4 out of every 100 breast cancers (1 to 4%). Paget's disease starts in the nipple or in the area of darker skin surrounding it (the areola). It usually first appears as a red, scaly rash. It can be itchy.

What you describe can simply be dry skin, eczema (severe skin rash and inflammation), an infection or some other skin condition. Are you using anything new in your bath? Bath salts or moisturizer that could be causing a reaction? A visit your doctor to determine the cause might be in order. Especially if symptoms change or worsen.

Best,
Helena
