You can continue taking them. If a woman becomes pregnant on the pill in error, in many cases, she wouldn't know until a pregnancy test was taken. According to Mayo Clinic "there's very little evidence that exposure to the hormones in birth control pills causes birth defects." If you find out you are pregnant, stop taking them. If you decide you want to stop taking them, use another form of birth control in the interim.
