For a woman who has a shorter cycle, there is a chance she could get pregnant while having sex during her period. In women with 28 to 30 day or longer cycles, it's much less likely. Anytime you have unprotected sex there is some risk. You can read more here:
Regarding testing for pregnancy, wait at least 2 to 2 1/2 weeks from the time you had sex until you test. It takes about two weeks for your hCG levels to be high enough to be detected in your urine using a home pregnancy test.
