Ovaries do get smaller with age and fertility decreases. In addition to the smaller size of the ovaries with age, other causes can be:
-Premature ovarian insufficiency (causing early loss of follicles)
-Infection or inflammation of the ovaries
-Chemotherapy or radiation
It's important to see your gynecologist (or a fertility specialist) for an evaluation and discuss your concerns. I know you said you have an appointment.
