Ejection fraction is how the activity of blood pumping is measured.
A normal EF percentage is about 55-70%.
Anything under 55% is considered abnormal - the lower the percentage, the more likely it is that the person has heart failure. People in the range of 54-40% may be at risk for heart disease but often have no symptoms. Anything lower than this is considered to be serious or at-risk of becoming serious.
