Teeth should be brushed at least twice a day - first thing in the morning and last thing before bed. A extra brush can be done after lunch but twice a day should suffice. Foods such as raw carrots and apples are also ways teeth can be cleaned naturally.
As for how to brush, the entire mouth should be brushed, including gums, cheeks and teeth. All front teeth should be brushed vertically (up and down, not side to side). Toothpaste should have plaque guards and most have fluoride.
