While it's important to take the pill on time each day and not miss a dose, taking it two hours late will not cause pregnancy. There is no need to take emergency contraception 'just in case' or to 'ease your mind', as all it does is cause unnecessary side effects and a change in the menstrual cycle from an overload of hormones. Spotting and/or bleeding can be a side effect. If you are on the pill you are protected each day. There is no unsafe day. Condoms are not required while on the pill. Some choose to use them anyway. But even if there is a condom mishap, it would not make a difference. Understanding how your BC pills work can relieve a lot of stress. Ask your doctor for an explanation of pills at your next appt.
