While I understand the reluctance of the doctor to order such a high dose of ibuprofen, your sister needs a pain management plan. Nobody should have to live in that much pain during recovery. I suspect if young doctors went through what their patients did, they might feel a little differently.

Ask for a pain management meeting with the staff.
