Psoriasis is a common skin condition that speeds up the life cycle of skin cells. It causes cells to build up rapidly on the surface of the skin. The extra skin cells form scales and red patches that are itchy and sometimes painful.

Doctors choose treatments based on the type and severity of psoriasis and the areas of skin affected, the traditional approach is to start with the mildest treatments - topical creams and ultraviolet light therapy (if recommended) - in those patients with typical skin lesions and then progress to stronger ones only if necessary. So, what the best one will be will depend on what works (best) for you. You can ask your doctor which treatments he feels would work well for you.
